Week twenty five of Operation Graphite – Theme: Cult Movie Poster

This weeks post will have the first NSFW tag for Operation Graphite. Cult movies can be racy, and the posters often reflect that. This week’s post is pretty mild, but I can’t account for what kind of work environment you might be viewing this site from.

We have a few re-imaginings of existing movie posters, along with one original poster that is in the spirit of mid 70’s trash cinema.

Week twenty five Cult Movie Posters:

bruku – The Room

drafturgy – Cache

Shock – Satanic Sorority Girls

Thank you for contributing.

The theme selected for week twenty six of Operation Graphite will be: Wrestler

Alright all you Hulkamaniacs, Operation Graphite is jumping in the ring. This week we will be focusing on Wrestlers. Now I will allow Greco Roman or Collegiate Wresting, but we all know that it’s the theatrical wrestling that inspires twelve year old boys to jump from their bunk beds at their little brother, breaking his leg and postponing the family trip to Six Flags… Whether it be WWF (now WWE), WCW or even Lucha libre, wrestlers are like rockstars. Beyond the scripted pro wrestling, or the modern sport, wrestling is a ancient martial art appearing in numerous mythologies and religions. This week we will depect a wrestler, in all their real (or arranged) glory.

Please submit a drawing or painting, using traditional or digital media of your Wrestler.

All art work is due on Thursday 8.2.12. Submissions will be published the following Friday 8.3.12.

Can I get a Hell Yeah?

The Kick Ass T-shirt shown above is being sold on Ebay, and I admit, I’m a little tempted.

Week twenty four of Operation Graphite – Theme: Swamp Monster vs. Space Alien

What kind of alien creature would come across the galaxy, only to pick on poor miserable swamp creatures? I kinda feel bad for the beings that inhabit the muck of the bayou. This week we have a few examples of Aliens visiting the swamp. Everyone place your bets. Who do you think will win this battle?

Week twenty four creatures

bruku (x2) – ALI and MUDD

shawnbrookwilliams – Swamp Monster vs. Space Alien

Shock – Swamp Ape vs. Saucer Men

Thank you for contributing.

The theme selected for week twenty five of Operation Graphite will be: Cult Movie Poster

Much like Pulp Novels, Cult Movies can cover a wide range of genres and themes. Anything from Horror, Exploitation, Sci-Fi, Trash, or the purely bizarre can be the topic of a Cult Film. Really the only think that truly defines a Cult Classic is small, but dedicated, fan base. Even big budget films that flopped at the box office can live on to become a Cult Classic. Some Cult Films are truly amazing, like Freaks from way back in 1932. Some are popular simply because they are so bad, like Troll 2 or The Room.

This week we will be inspired by Cult Movie Posters and try to create our own, or at least a mock up of one. Some posters are very complex, while some are beautifully simple. You only need to capture the spirit of the Cult Movie poster. I encourage you to check it out wrongsideoftheart.com for some great examples of Cult Movie Posters. They have Everything from The Abominable Dr. Phibbles to Zardoz.

Please submit a drawing or painting, using traditional or digital media, inspired by Cult Movie Posters.

All art work is due on Thursday 7.26.12. Submissions will be published the following Friday 7.27.12.

Gooble Gobble Gooble Gobble.

Week twenty three of Operation Graphite – theme: Sith

Welcome to the dark side. This week we have a few Sith Lord recruits, and if there is anything to legend of there being only two, we might have a fight on our hands soon.

Week twenty three Sith Lords:

kalebschad – Asaj

Micah (2) Two Sith Lords

shawnbrookswilliams – Darth Vokeel

Thank you for goin’ evil n’ stuff.

The theme selected for week 24 of Operation Graphite will be: Swamp Monster vs. Space Mutant.

This week we will have a battle of the of the bizarre, and pit Swamp creatures from the muck and goo vs. Alien beings from another world. This will most likely end up being a battle of the squishy and juicy vs. the big headed and ray gun welding. It could be, squishy and juicy vs. mucky and slimy, too. Either way, there’ll be lots of great sound effect noises being made by the artists this week as they draw away.

Any drawing or painting, using traditional or digital media that fits the theme, Swap Monster vs. Space Alien, will be fair game.

All art work is due on Thursday 7.19.12. Submissions will be published the following Friday 7.20.12.

Week twenty two of Operation Graphite – Theme: New Mutant

Xavier will welcoming some new students next semester, that is unless Magneto recruits them into the brotherhood first. Here are a few of our newly created mutants ready to spring into action.

Week twenty two mutants

bruku – Virus Infinita – like Multiple Man, but Omega Powered, not as funny and turns worlds into empty voids

Micah – Mutant –  I think his mutant power is just to be stupendously distracting looking.

Shock – Shockwave – Able to summon and control electric impulses. Also able send out shock waves of concussive force.

Thank you for showing off your powers.

The theme selected for week twenty three of Operation Graphite will be: Sith

Next week I will taking my yearly pilgrimage with the nerd masses to the Mecca of Geekdom. The San Diego Comic Con is going on from the 11th till the 15th. In the past, Friday had been Star Wars day at the SDCC. For some reason this year doesn’t have that distinction. Operation Graphite will keep the Star Wars Friday tradition alive for the 2012 with our theme for week twenty three.

This week our mission is to depict a Sith Lord, the twisted disciples of the dark side of the force. You may show your favorite Sith from the Star Wars: movies, comics, video games or novels. You are even free to create a Sith Lord of your own design. We’ll even forgive you if you remind us of the prequels.

Please submit a drawing or painting, using traditional or digital media, of your Sith Lord. Because I will be at the Con, forgive me if the post becomes delayed. I might be waiting in line for hours hoping to see Peter Dinklage.

All art work is due on Thursday 7.12.12. Submissions will be published the following Friday 7.13.12.

Now tear this ship Apart until you find those plans, and bring me the passengers. I Want Them ALIVE!
