Week thirty of Operation Graphite – Theme: Lightsaber

Despite the sheer improbability of a such a device actually functioning like they do in Star Wars, Lightsabers are one of the coolest weapons in Sci-Fi with out a doubt. Weather sharp and jagged, or smooth and organic, A lightsaber can be as unique as the person who wields it.

bruku – Star Wars Askew

Micah – Sabers

Shock – Audrey III

Thank you for contributing.

The theme selected for week thirty one of Operation Graphite will be: D&D Character.

Remember  the 80’s, back when the only thing more evil than Ozzy Osbourne was Dungeons and Dragons? Some how a bunch of nerds in a basement binging on Mountain Dew and Doritos was equivalent to worshiping Satan. I don’t know about you, but I offered my blood sacrifices to Dark Lord Lucifer with a completely different group of friends than the guys I played D&D with.

We are cranking up the Geek Knob to eleven this week. Get out your dice, cause we are going to create a D&D character. Actually you won’t need any dice, we won’t need your players stats, but you should name your character and have a class and alignment in mind. Some might remember fondly creating a character for hours, only to have them encircled by twenty red dragons after arguments with the Dungeon Master. The character creation options, first designed for Dungeons and Dragons, have become familiar in recent years, and are used universally in almost every Role Playing Game today. Pick your Race, pick your Class, pick your Gender, and pick your Alignment. Don’t forget what kind of weapon your character will be wilding; it will be a bloody fight though the crypt of shadows to retrieve the Talisman of Gygax.

Please submit a drawing or painting, using traditional or digital media of your D&D Character.

All art work is due on Thursday 9.6.12. Submissions will be published the following Friday 9.7.12.

Week twenty nine of Operation Graphite – Theme: Monster Costume.

This week bruku and sweatywest went out on a two man mission to infiltrate the Wicked Witch of the West’s HQ. What they brought back was some very detailed intel on what we are going to be up against of we launch an assault on her compound. Word is that a teenage girl and a small dog, a cyborg, an oversized persian cat, and Dr, Jonathan Crane are still being held captive inside the fortress. An escape plan is in progress.

Contributing Monster Costumes.

bruku – The Winged Monkeys

sweatywest – Sad Bearman

Thank you for fighting back the hordes of Aerial Simians.

The theme selected for week thirty of Operation Graphite will be: Lightsaber.

Before you complete your training, you must design and construct your own Lightsaber. Only then can you become a Jedi Knight. Probably one of the coolest weapons in Science Fiction, it is also one of the most improbable. A beam of light that goes out three feet then stops, and can not past though a similar beam seems impossible. More plausible would be a electromagnetic field in the shape of the blade that is filled with charged plasma. Yet this would need a extraordinary power source, likely generating so much heat your hand would melt off if you tried to hold it. It’s maybe best not to over think it, after all, who knows what kind of technologies are available to a type 3 Civilization. That high up the Kardashev scale and maybe anything is possible.

This week we will design a lightsaber, and it may be one used by a Jedi Knight, or a Sith Lord. While the focus will be on the Lightsaber it self, you may also show who wielding the blade if you choose. Please submit a drawing or painting, using traditional or digital media of your Lightsaber

All art work is due on Thursday 8.30.12. Submissions will be published the following Friday 8.31.12.

May the Force be with you.

Week twenty eight of Operation Graphite – Theme: Norse Mythology.

Ah, Norse Mythology, where if you die fighting bravely in battle you spend your afterlife in Valhalla; fighting an endless battle for all eternity. Sounds kind of brutal to me. The PTSD cases in Valhalla must be through the roof. Where’s the religion turned Mythology where if you die gloriously in battle, your afterlife is a Caribbean island. An afterlife where you do nothing all day but sip fine ale and have your battle weary feet massaged.

Contributing Norsemen

bruku – The Children of Loki at Ragnarok

Micah – Odin

Shock – Wandering Odin

sweatywest – Njord

Thank for being worthy of Valhalla

The theme selected for week twenty nine of Operation Graphite will be: Monster Costume.

This week we will depict a Guy (or Gal) in a Monster Costume. Now This can be a simple study of a human in a monster suit, it can be a homage to classic Hollywood or Kaiju Creatures, or it could celebrate the actors (or the three in the case of Jabba the Hutt) inside the Monster Costume.

Please submit a drawing or painting, using traditional or digital media of a man or woman in a Monster Costume

All art work is due on Thursday 8.23.12. Submissions will be published the following Friday 8.24.12.

Week twenty seven of Operation Graphite – Theme: Future Technology.

Great news everyone! The time machine worked, and we were able to bring a few things back from the future. This week we can see advances in cybernetics, cognitive enhancement and even an alternative to the the daily traffic jam.

Week twenty seven Technologies

bruku – WE4

Micah – Idea Harvester

Shock – Commute

Thank you for showing us a glimpse of the future.

The theme selected for week twenty eight of Operation Graphite will be: Norse Mythology

Here it is, the Grand Daddy of Bad-Assery. This time we will be traveling across the Bifrost to Asgard as we depict an element of Norse Mythology. To keep from crossing the streams (crossing the streams would be very bad) we will be staying away from the Marvel take on these characters, locations and stories; this time. So let Skyrim rest for a while, and crank up The Sword. It’s time to depict those who are worth of entering Valhalla.

Any drawing or painting, using traditional or digital media that fits the theme, Norse Mythology, is fair game.

All art work is due on Thursday 8.16.12. Submissions will be published the following Friday 8.17.12.

Week twenty six of Operation Graphite – Theme: Wrestler

With the olympics going on, I figured there might be more collegiate or Greco Roman wrestling inspired art. However, nothing quite inspires like crazy, over the top, pro wrestling stars. This week we get a double dose of crazy with two submissions featuring, The Ultimate Warrior. Contrary to the old rumors, the Warrior didn’t die in 91. He is still around and crazy as hell, sadly not the good kind of crazy.

Week twenty six Wrestlers

bruku (x2) – Cocky, Leggy and Ballsy  – and – Hulk Hogan vs. The Ultimate Warrior.

Shock – The Ultimate Mullet

Thank you for getting in the ring.

The theme selected for week twenty seven of Operation Graphite will be: Future Technology

This week is all about the Future, and what kind of gadgets, vehicles, or technologies our great grand children will tease us for not knowing how to operate. Anything from the plausible, to the comically ridiculous is acceptable. Here’s your chance to either be a futurist and present a possible technology, create a device you wish would be possible someday, or play with the theme and depict something Professor Hubert J. Farnsworth might have lying around in his lab.

Any drawing or painting, using traditional or digital media of a Future Technology is fair game.

All art work is due on Thursday 8.9.12. Submissions will be published the following Friday 8.10.12.
