Week two-forty of Operation Graphite – theme: Nosferatu.

Happy Halloween! Tonight we enjoy the darker side of our nature, turning to the phantom, monstrous, and villainous side of humanity, but in totally harmless ways. Oh and puns, lots and lots of puns, and political humor and other pop culture references. And because its a multi billion dollar industry, there’s logs of princesses and supper heroes too. These days it’s pretty much a chance to dress up however you want. Have a great night on the town in your Sexy Chewbacca Mom costume, the night is yours!

Week two-thirty-nine of Operation Graphite – theme: Ghostly.

Yes, I realize I am late… again. For the two people who read this, I apologize. One of those people is a random guy (or gal) in the Czech republic, the other is my Mom. My sincerest apologies. Also, apologies for trying to draw a ghostly gunfighter, and having it look more like a zombie. It was supposed to be the ghost of a small town sheriff who still walks main street replaying his last gunfight again and again.

The theme selected for week two-fourty of Operation Graphite will be: Nosferatu.

Holly fun-sized snickers bars, Halloween is almost here! To wrap up this lovely month of Shocktober we will finish with some good old classic vampires. Weather you prefer Klaus Kinski to Max Schreck or Christopher Lee to Bella Lugosi, Vampires in cinema, specifically Count Dracula, is the grand daddy of all movie monsters. Don’t try to correct me, throwing Count Orlok in there. The name, Count Orlok was just a get around Bram Stoker’s Copyright, and that failed. The production was sued and all prints of the film were ordered to  be destroyed. One, and only one print of the film survived. Thought dead, growing stronger thought the years, just like our Orlok… I mean Dracula. Hey everyone, lets draw creepy vampires!

Please submit any drawing or painting, using traditional or digital media, that fits the theme: Nosferatu.

All art work is due on Friday, 10.28.16. Submissions will be published the weekend of Halloween.

Week two-thirty-eight of Operation Graphite  – theme: Slimy.

Here is a disturbing concept whose execution was a little rushed. Typically I am pretty excited about any theme where monsters are in play, yet this week has left me feeling a little tapped. A tall slimy spider with a creepy long neck and a horrifying baby face.

The theme selected for week two-thirty-nine of Operation Graphite will be: Ghostly.

We covered hell beasts, next we had our slimy friends over, and now we will shift to the less corporeal terrors. Ghost, Ghouls, Wraiths and Poltergeists will be the theme this week. The phantoms that creak in the night, the specter that haunts the road decades after that tragic accident, or the apparitions that have appeared for centuries after a famous murder. Are these beings souls of the departed stuck in this realm, some sort of imprint the soul makes as it leaves this world, an elaborate hoax for a Syfy channel reality program, or beings from another dimension that can’t take physical form in our world? Whatever they are, I wish they would stop banging on the door in the middle of the night and rearranging my furniture, that is really annoying.

Please submit any drawing or painting, using traditional or digital media, that fits the theme: Ghostly.

All art work is due on Friday, 10.21.16. Submissions will be published the weekend of 10.22.16

Week two-thirty-seven of Operation Graphite – theme: Demonic.

I promise, the demonic theme this week had nothing to do with the election.

The theme selected for week two-thirty-eight of Operation Graphite will be: Slimy

We continue with the creepy, the crawly, and now the slimy monsters and horrors one might imagine on Halloween. Oozing, puss filled monstrosities belching hag fish slime and bile. And just after you cleaned the carpets. Your lovely decor isn’t the only thing this blob of muck and mire will destroy. Even if you make it out alive, no one has figured out how to wash that crud of once you’ve been slimed.

Please submit any drawing or painting, using traditional or digital media, that fits the theme: Slimy.

All art work is due on Friday, 10.14.16. Submissions will be published the weekend of 10.15.16

Week two-thirty-six of Operation Graphite – Theme: Sidekick.

We all could use a mentor, a hero to take us under their wing. It is not about the weakness in the sidekick, but the greatness of the hero who trains them. Oh yeah, and happy #inktober !
