Week one-o-eight of Operation Graphite – theme: Highlander.

There can be only one… because the sequels totally sucked. If ever there was a movie that should have stayed a single film, Highlander is that for sure. I was warned well enough that I never saw part 2. “The Source” was also rumored to be a new and terrible flavor of suckage. I did enjoy the TV series quite a bit though, I mean, Rodger Daltrey was one of the Immortals, how can that not be fantastic.

The theme selected for week one-o-eight of Operation Graphite will be: Highlander.

Of all the films where Sean Connery’s Scottish accent might have been apropriate, he gets cast as an Egyptian with a Spanish name. The Scottish character went to the one with the French accent. Despite the mismatched dialects, the chemistry between Connor and Ramirez was fantastic. Highlander was a ridiculous movie, it should not have been as good as it was, but it had some kind of magic that makes it hold up even today. Though there is a remake in the works, I can’t imagine it being even a fraction of the movie the original was… unless it’s the remake I’ve day dreamed about; that one would rock, so would the two sequels.

Please submit any drawing or painting, using traditional or digital media, that fits the theme: Highlander.
