The theme selected for week two-hundred of of Operation Graphite will be: The Force Awakens, again.

Hey, didn’t we already do a Star Wars theme for The Force Awakens? Yes, yes we did. That first theme was just an anticipationary (not a real word dude) theme since the full trailer had just come out. Now that Episode VII has finally hit theaters, it has been widely praised and many can get enough of a Star Wars film that finally dosent suck. We are skipping a week for the end of the year and holiday season. That means there will be some more time to see the film, cause by the time this Grey Op is due, spoilers will be accepted.

Please submit any drawing or painting, using traditional or digital media, that fits the theme: The Force Awakens, again.

All art work is due 9 P.M. PST on Friday, 1.8.16. Submissions will be published the weekend of 1.9.16

Week one-sixty-sixy of Operation Graphite – theme: The Force Awakens.

After handing over the keys to Lucasfilm, George Lucas relinquished all ties to the franchise he made famous. Perhaps like after the passing of Michael Jackson, where everyone tries to ignore everything after the 80’s; maybe in time the Prequels will be forgotten, and when thinking of Lucas, people will only think of the first trilogy.

As for, The Force Awakens, Lucas has had no input, and doesn’t even know the story. For him, he will be able to go and see an official film set in his universe that he didn’t have to toil over. He can simply enjoy it as part of the audience for once. Perhaps he will be over joyed, seeing his creations given new life. Perhaps he will disapprove, regretting his relinquishing control. I have a hunch he’ll be pleased with the new films, as least some of them. Now that Disney is churning out a new films as often as possible, I’m sure there will be a few disasters. You never know, they might even try another holiday special.

Contributing scruffy looking nerf herders:

drafturgy – Captain Phasma

Sethomatik – Fett

Shock – Phasma of Tarth

The theme for week one-sixty-six of Operation Graphite will be: The Force Awakens.

There have been two teaser trailers thus far promoting, Star Wars episode VII: The Force Awakens. By the time the film hits theaters there will most likely be 4 or 5 more trailers, the last two completely blowing the entire plot and any twists that the film will contain.

All cynical thoughts aside, we get to see Han, Chewie, Luke and Leia together again for the first time since 1984. The three new major characters look promising, and there is a cute little droid that rolls around that is actually a practical effect, despite it looking like something that could never work in the real world.

Millions of fans are on edge, will these sequels bring the disappointment that the prequels did? By all indications, these new films are in the right hands. The director is a die hard fan of the originals Star Wars since childhood. Can he pull it off, or will hordes of fans blame him for ruining their childhood. No pressure, J.J.
