Week one-fourty-seven of Operation Graphite – theme: The night Santa went crazy.

Shock - Santa

I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas. I’ve been spending most of my time finding out what does, and doesn’t mix well with egg nog. For those keeping track, coconut rum = good, soy sauce = bad, turkey gravy = AMAZING!

Shock – The ice caps aren’t melting fast enough.

The theme selected for week one-fourty-seven of Operation Graphite will be: The night Santa went crazy.

It’s that time of year again, time to prepare yourself for a home invasion from a deranged holiday sociopath. Naughty or nice are relative terms, Die Sinterklaas will find you, and few children pass his harsh judgement. A religious zealot who stalks children, threatening to give the naughty to the demonic Krampus to eat. A legion of enslaved elves are kept working day and nigh at an arctic compound. They dream of the day they overthrow their tyrannical overlord. This week we follow Santa Claus, and the day he finally snaps.

Week forty five of Operation Graphite – theme: Krampus.

This week is especially festive. The world didn’t end, the holidays are in full swing, and we have a new member in the Graphite Corps. As 2012 draws to a close, we take stock of what we did this past year, and what we hope to accomplish in the next. Not getting on the naughty list, resulting in being devoured by a horned, satyr-like beast, seems like a pretty solid goal.

Contributing Krampuses, or is it Krampai?

While the Dutch have their Zwarte Piet, the Germans also have their own Christmas character, and it is uniquely… German. Meet Krampus, what he lacks in racist stereotypes, he more than makes up for by being absolutely fucking terrifying. A demonic monster who either will beat you bloody with sticks, or simply kidnap and eat you if St. Nicholas deems you naughty. Ah, the Germans, the people who gave children Struwwelpeter, and the years of nightmares that followed.

This is the last Grey Op for the year. There will be a week of R&R for Christmas. Try not to get eaten by Krampus.

Please submit any drawing or painting, using traditional or digital media, of Krampus

All art work is due on Thursday 12.20.12. Submissions will be published the following Friday 12.21.12
