Week one-o-nine of Operation Graphite – theme: 80’s Sitcom.

Shock - Bull Shannon

You can tell a little about a person by looking at the¬†kind of sitcoms they favored in their formative years. While I certainly watched lots of the family based sitcoms. For me, the weirder and more screwball the better. Night Court was one of my absolute favorites. Sadly, I haven’t been able to see it recently to see for my self if it still holds up after all these years.

The theme selected for week one-o-nine of Operation Graphite will be: 80’s Sitcom.

In the dark days before the internet, human nuclear families would huddle around a small living room box that displayed only 480×720 images. These bright beacons of media in an otherwise primitive time was our only portal to the sweet opiate to numb the pain of day to day living. As horrific as that might sound to the youth of today, the plus side was that there were some great mind numbing comedies filling the airwaves in the late 20th century decade known as the 80’s. Numerous family comedies, where not a single nuclear unit in any way resembled an actual family, were the stable of the time. Other comedies ¬†usually involved dysfunctional workplaces. Among them, there are a few gems that still hold up today, and then there’s a lot of crap you can’t believe you used to think was funny.
