Week one-sixty-sixy of Operation Graphite – theme: The Force Awakens.

After handing over the keys to Lucasfilm, George Lucas relinquished all ties to the franchise he made famous. Perhaps like after the passing of Michael Jackson, where everyone tries to ignore everything after the 80’s; maybe in time the Prequels will be forgotten, and when thinking of Lucas, people will only think of the first trilogy.

As for, The Force Awakens, Lucas has had no input, and doesn’t even know the story. For him, he will be able to go and see an official film set in his universe that he didn’t have to toil over. He can simply enjoy it as part of the audience for once. Perhaps he will be over joyed, seeing his creations given new life. Perhaps he will disapprove, regretting his relinquishing control. I have a hunch he’ll be pleased with the new films, as least some of them. Now that Disney is churning out a new films as often as possible, I’m sure there will be a few disasters. You never know, they might even try another holiday special.

Week one-o-four of Operation Graphite – theme: Star Wars.

Shock - Droopy Chewy

I was really excited for the Star Wars theme,  but due to a lack of time I just dialed in a quick sketch. “E” for effort, right? Whatever, off to my 4 hour commute.

There have been a few, more focused Grey Ops, that concerned the events from, “A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away.” For the first time we will open up the entire Star Wars universe for inspiration. It’s not a very large universe though, weren’t there only three movies?

Please submit any drawing or painting, using traditional or digital media, that fits the theme: Star Wars.

All art work is due on Thursday, 2.27.13. Submissions will be published the following Friday, 2.28.13

Send your ideas for new themes with your submission and guide future Grey Ops.
