Week One-o-one of Operation Graphite – theme: Smokey the Bear.

Shock - You Did This

No sooner did I mention the terrible drought in Southern California, and we ended up having a few days of rain. It is LA rain of course, more of a heavy drizzle. But that drizzle is typically called “Storm of the Century” buy most local news stations in So Cal. Slick roads and bad drivers are also a fun combo. But a little rain is better than none, and hopefully there will be some more to green up the place, and maybe even hold off another devastating fire season.

Shock – You Did This!

The theme selected for week one-o-one of Operation Graphite will be: Smokey the Bear.

smokey_the_bear_classic_adAs the polar vortex produces Hoth like conditions out east and in the midwest, California is ungodly warm for this time of year. Comfortable, yes, but this is supposed to be the cool rainy season. Instead, fire season has pretty much started nine months early. By the end of summer I imagine So Cal will be a charred, post apocalyptic wasteland. What better time to think about everyones favorite forest fire prevention mascot, sure to inspire nostalgia of childhood summer vacations and long car rides into the north woods.

Please submit any drawing or painting, using traditional or digital media, that fits the theme: Smokey the Bear.

All art work is due on Thursday, 2.6.13. Submissions will be published the following Friday, 2.7.13

As always, new theme suggestions are always welcome by fellow members of the Graphite Corps.
