Week two-forty-five of Operation Graphite – theme: Armor.

There was a hope of having the time and inspiration to design a cool set of armor, or rendering some exquisite gothic plate mail or something. Even when there is a theme I can get behind, sometimes I just don’t have the drive to deliver what I original envisioned. Even though the armor is minimal, the Black Knight did serve as a quick idea to knock out quickly. All grievous bodily injury is taken seriously as the topic of armor has been resting heavily on my mind as of late. This weekend I have my first HEMA tournament, and my armor is a little lacking at the moment. My drawing time has recently become craft time, and I will see how well thick craft foam holds up to being beaten with synthetic long sword wasters. Something tells me I shouldn’t take any pointers from this guy.
Shock – None shall pass.

Alright, were done with the not so subtle jabs at the unfortunate choice for POTUS mk45. It’s back to basics, good old fashioned geekery. The theme is armor; it can be historical armor, fantasy armor, living things that are naturally armored, the modern military armor branch or even the metaphorical concept of armor. Whatever makes you feel save.

Please submit any drawing or painting, using traditional or digital media, that fits the theme: Armor.

All art work is due on Friday, 2.10.2017. Submissions will be published the weekend of 2.11.2017

The theme selected for week one-nintey-four of Operation Graphite will be: Helmet.

It came to me as I was doodling skulls, then stormtrooper helmets, then realized how the original stormtrooper helmet is really  and abstract skull. Though the prequels tell you that there was some sort of Mandalorian influence on the original. Really it was a white skull, with ocular orbit shapes, nasal bone, and teeth. No, what you think are the monster teeth is really the abstracted nasal cavity. The think of the vertical vent at the bottom as the teeth. So yes, lots of doodling stormtrooper helmets turned into designing other weird Sci-Fi helmets. And I thought, Helmets would make a fun theme. Modern, Historical, and Sci-Fi. everyone needs some good head protection.
