The theme selected for week one-sixty will be: Renaissance.

It was a time of poofy shirts and starched ruffs. It was also a time of scientific, cultural and artistic innovation that spread though out Europe. The Renaissance is sometimes thought of as a historical period, but by others, more of a cultural and philosophical movement, that swept though Europe between the 14th and 17th Centuries. While some like to think back to this time in history as this shiny happy age of progress, It was not as nice as we imagine. Compared to Medieval times, it was actually would have been a whole lot more violent and awful if you had lived during this time; more warfare, more political corruption, witch hunts and the Inquisition. But, the art was still pretty nice.

Please submit any drawing or painting, using traditional or digital media, that fits the theme: Renaissance.

All art work is due on Thursday, 3.26.14 Submissions will be published the following Friday, 3.27.15
